Cannabis, cannabinoids and CBD - these are 3 different terms that also have 3 different meanings. They can sometimes be confused and are often used incorrectly.
Therefore, here is a brief explanation of the terms:
Cannabis is a plant genus within the hemp family. It is one of the oldest useful plants on earth. Depending on the environmental conditions, the cannabis plant can grow up to five meters high. In addition to fibers and seeds, it produces a resin that contains, among other things, the psychoactive THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). After producing seeds, the plant withers, which is why it then needs to be reseeded.
Cannabinoids are the natural active ingredients of cannabis plants. They are found in the flowers, leaves and stems. Cannabinoids reduce the excitability of the brain and activate the reward system. It has a relaxing, pain-relieving, but often also demotivating effect.
CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol and belongs to the group of cannabinoids. Cannabidiol is a natural component of hemp plants. CBD is a cannabinoid from the female hemp plant and one of the main active ingredients of cannabis alongside THC. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.
