Cannabis microdosing - your comprehensive overview

Imagine... You take cannabis, but without getting high.

You want to feel the effects of cannabis without couch-lock, laughing flashes or mental fog? Then microdosing might be just the thing for you. More and more people are discovering this minimalist form of consumption: tiny amounts of THC or CBD that still have a noticeable effect, just subtle. Whether for better sleep, more focus or simply more serenity in everyday life: microdosing cannabis doesn't throw you off your game - it helps you get back into yours.

Here you can find out how microdosing works, what you should bear in mind and which products are best suited - clear, well-founded and direct.

What is cannabis microdosing?

When microdosing, you don't use cannabis to switch off, but to get into a balanced state, and the term stands for the conscious consumption of extremely small amounts of THC or CBD. So small that you don't get "high", but still feel a subtle effect. Microdosers report more focus, inner peace, better sleep or simply a pleasant basic feeling. Without losing control, without being foggy. This is exactly what makes microdosing so suitable for everyday use.

The idea behind it is not new. Microdoses of psychedelics such as LSD were already being experimented with in the 1960s. Today, the principle has been transferred to cannabis, and is completely legal in parts of Switzerland, e.g. via pilot projects or with low-dose CBD products.

How much is really "micro"? How to find your personal dose

There is no hard and fast rule for microdosing. What works for one person is too much or too little for another. Therefore: Forget general recommendations and listen to your body instead.

A good starting point is 1-2 mg THC or 5-10 mg CBD, depending on experience and sensitivity. For absolute beginners, a single puff on a vaporizer or a drop of CBD oil can be enough. Important: Don't be fooled by pre-dosed products. Some edibles contain 5 or 10 mg THC, which is not a microdose level for beginners. Advanced users slowly feel their way towards 3-5 mg THC, but anything over 5 mg is already scratching the classic effect threshold.

Taste your way slowly. One method that has proven successful is the so-called Fadiman protocol: one day of consumption, two days off. This helps to keep your tolerance low and to feel the effect better.

The optimal dose is individual, depending on body weight, metabolism, daily form and product. Tinctures, capsules or precisely dosed edibles are ideal because they allow you to work with milligram precision. This allows you to find your personal balance step by step, without getting high but with an effect.

Microdosing is like fine-tuning your own nervous system. The effect curve of a microdose is flatter, gentler and more even than with a normal dose. There is no sudden "high", but a steady, subtle activation - perfect for focus, inner balance or a good night's sleep.

How to integrate microdosing into your everyday life and which products are really worthwhile

Microdosing works best if you see it as a small routine and not as an exception. Many people start with a mini dose in the morning, e.g. before work or a workout. Others prefer to take their dose in the evening for better sleep. The important thing is that you set the framework - your body will show you what works.

Products that allow you to really control your dose are the be-all and end-all. Ideal are:

●      Tinctures with pipette - can be dosed to the milliliter, ideal for fine adjustment

●      Capsules or softgels - discreet, precisely portioned, great for on the go

●      Micro-sized edibles (e.g. 2 mg THC per piece). e.g. 2 mg THC per piece) - delicious, consistently effective

●       CBD oils - particularly suitable for getting started or for combining with THC

Rolled joints or imprecise flower varieties are less suitable, as you often don't know how much you are really consuming. If you still want to inhale, then use a vaporizer with a temperature setting, which is gentler, more precise and more pleasant.

Microdosing is therefore more than just a trend, it is a new, mindful form of cannabis consumption. Whether for more focus, better sleep or inner balance: with the right dose and the right product, you can make targeted use of the effects of cannabis without feeling intoxicated.

Important to know: CBD products with less than 1% THC are legal and freely available in Switzerland. However, cannabis containing THC may only be consumed with a medical prescription or as part of pilot projects. Microdosing with THC is currently not permitted without a prescription.

Be well informed, pay attention to quality and listen to your body. If you approach the topic with respect, microdosing offers you a controlled, clear and legal way to integrate cannabis into your everyday life in a sensible way.
